It's... actually really nice to hear normal conversation going on around them and no one really seeming to notice their existence. It's almost as if he were back home again, though people are a lot more cheery here and the clothing is a little different than what he's accustomed to.
Of course he had declined at first, but any more push towards it and he'd break down and finally get something. He's still learning that it's okay to take offers from people and to let them do something for him. It's an odd feeling even now, but eventually he'll get it.
