[The ninja's faint smile disappears all together as he recognises how serious the issue is, and Light has the attention from all eight eyes. He pauses, digesting the man's words before he sighs and shakes his head.]

Reira-dono.. Seems like every time I try to alleviate that worry, he ends up twice as much so. I wanted to just provide for him enough. I'm not upset that he did help... Just more of the fact that he had to get involved like that.

[He goes quiet as he collects his thoughts. 'your worth isn't in your sacrifices'. Something in those words makes him want to protest, but he's not sure how to. He's never thought of it like that.] I just merely wish the best for him. Sometimes, even if it doesn't make him happy, I'll still do a task. His safety is also entrusted to me... and my track record here is something far from satisfactory.

Because he does end up worrying twice as much. Your intentions are good, and I'm glad he has someone who looks over him, but your focus seems to be on what you can sacrifice for him. You have to realize he worries too. You can related, you feel the same about him. Remember that everything you try to spare him from, he wants to keep hidden from you too. He's a child, I'm not saying to give up your protection, but take care of yourself too. Not just for him, not just for me, but for yourself.

How about a new start? I'll help. You can protect Reira, but also yourself. Consider it a request from a worried friend.

[The man slowly digests the man's words yet again, letting them stew in his head. While it is in his nature to not reveal everything in his hand or on his shoulders, Light is right. Tsukikage has known for some time, Reira has been keeping some things for him, for his own safety too. It's a burdening kindness and care that they have for one another, but going on like this... well... it did need a change. It would only be hurtful in the end.]

Alright... I will think about it. It is easy to say such words, but where even to start.

[It's a mistake born of good intentions. It's something Light acknowledges, and intentions and circumstances have always played a role in his judgments as Kira. Neither was trying to hurt the other, but it happened because they were both willing to sacrifice so much. It's especially dangerous because Reira is so young and Tsukikage so willing to die for him.]

Think of ways he can help. I'm not saying to put him in danger, he is still a child. You're off to a good start by letting him handle bits and pieces of the house. Other than that, talk to him and find out what he wants too. Compromising is the most important aspect here.

[He hasn't, but he likely will.]

I try let him do as much as he wants, but a lot of the activities I do... really do not require help of any kind. [He's not teaching the kid how to arson with or without using his cards]. I have been letting him go out and not following him if he doesn't want me to. I've also been letting him walk in the fog...

As tea is served for the men, Tsukikage swipes it and does an age-old anime masking trick, namely being able to drink out of the cup without bringing it to his face, removing his mask, or leaving a drop of tea on that cowl of his]

As for the fog, it really isn't safe for him to be walking around. Monster forms are more exaggerated. I've mentioned as much myself, but he isn't willing to listen. I assume it's the same for you.

[Light sips at his tea as well, though in a more boring, normal fashion.]

I'm not disappointed. Disappointed in myself, maybe, for not doing it without intervention, but not because of him or Mana. [It's complicated.] I will go talk to him later about it. [Because you're not the first to mention it, and now he was really starting to get how worried Reira was about him.]

We know. There's a reason our home is built how it is. [To accommodate the giant spider that shows its face, the one that Light first met.] Reira-dono has been going out into the fog long before I came to Ryslig. His last caretaker knew he would care for himself, as do I. It's too late to change it much.

Besides, there are people who need help during the fog: both newcomers and people suffering from their transformations. It may be dangerous, but neither of us can stay inside.

That sounds like a good idea. There's no reason to extend a misunderstanding. But you shouldn't be disappointed in yourself either. You're a very self-sufficient man, Tsukikage, that's something worthy of pride.

As for Reira's fog wanderings, I may not think it's a good idea, but that's your decision, not mine. I'm more focused on making sure your good intentions don't hurt one another. It sounds like you've already thought it over yourself.

[Well, it'll take a little more for that idea to sink into his head, but he'll accept the words all the same. It's nice to hear that work is appreciated, even if he has to berate himself for even desiring such a thing.]

Honestly, Reira-dono is safer in the fog than he is with me or at home. I tend to be very... aggressive during that time. Thank you for respecting our decision.

[Light takes another drink from his cup as the noise continues around them. It seems like they'll at least discuss the misunderstanding once Tsukikage gets home. As for the fog, it's their decision.]

The house really is nice. How much of it did you do on your own?

Not a lot, I'm afraid. Most of it was just prep work. Securing the land, getting clearance for materials, mapping out the country side and drawing up the plans. I spent a few months on getting that all organised. Then I started excavating the main hall and the main room, but that's it. Frodo and I were planning how to do the extensions before Reira intervened.

[They're not small rooms either. They're all built to at least fit a ten foot spider if it decided to rampage unexpectedly.]

[It isn't that Light wouldn't even understand why someone would be disappointed that they had put months into a situation that likely meant nothing practical once the wish was made. That doesn't make Reira wrong in that this gave them a home faster, but both sides aren't without merit. Not that either is fighting.]

Where did you get your materials from? I don't think I'll be making my own home soon, but I am curious.

Bavan is a big city. There's a proprietor on the east side of town that deals in construction and development. I saved up, went to their warehouse to have the materials ready for me when I did finish up here. I found them during my first couple of months here, when I was really into investigating the city.

[Light chuckles at the description after swallowing the tea.]

I'm trying to imagine now, you being new. It sounds like you took a lot of the same steps I did. I have a roommate right now, though, and I can't imagine building a house.

I was a lot taller then. [A good two feet] Back then, I was taken into Reira-dono's and Kurt's apartment. They allowed me use of the couch. [Actually he had to fight to make sure Kurt didn't give him his bead and let him have the couch.]

But honestly, I never imagined taking the initiative to build my own place either. It was a learning experience, despite the outcome.

[Despite the wings, Light sits back.] Taller? I assume you only had two legs at the time then. Do you miss being human?

[Reaching out, he picks up his cup, though he doesn't take another drink yet.] A lot can change in such little time, can't it?

Yes, that's right. I was a human. [It's an interesting question though, and he didn't know what to make of it at first, but the answer he gives is said with certainty.]

This form has its uses, and I have grown accustomed to it as of late, but I do miss being myself. My reasonings are rather selfish though, and please forgive me for not sharing in those.

[Another sigh.] A lot can... but some has been for the better. Reira-dono in particular has been having nothing but positive growth since being here.

Your reasons are yours. If you want to share them, I'll listen, but I'm hardly going to get angry if you have secrets of your own to keep. There are things we don't know about each other, things that might change over time, but some might not. Sorry if the question was too personal. The form is still new to me so I do miss it, being human.

[He offers a smile as he continues to sip at his tea.]

That's good to hear. Ryslig isn't the kind of place kids would normally have an easy time. I guess he does have you.

It is alright. Most would not find that as such. In all regards, you're technically a newcomer, though you have been doing an exceptional job in finding a place in Ryslig, if I may say so.

[He shakes his head though, but it's more a humbling gesture than a dismissive one.]

I am but one of the many bonds that Reira has made here that shapes who he is today. The life he lived before Ryslig didn't allow Reira-dono to talk to many people, and it's good that there are many people looking out for him.

Sometimes, it still feels new, sometimes it feels like I've been here for a very long time. More than that, I suppose the amount of experiences are more important. Ryslig hasn't taken it slow.

[Brown eyes then go to the cup as he listens, and nods slightly in agreement.] It s good he's learning from a lot of different influences, but the two of you are likely closest.

You're very involved with a number of things. It's good.

[This place was very far from slow. Sometimes weeks would fly by without a care in the world. May was quickly coming to a close, and Tsukikage would be approaching 9 months here in this world.

The man gives a small smile at that, and he even chuckles a little. He does treasure that bond with Reira more than anything.]

[No, there's nothing slow or forgiving about Ryslig. Perhaps Light has pushed himself to know as much as possible as quickly as possible, but it feels like the quieter days stretch on while the harder ones take much longer. He realizes it's subjective, that all days have the same hours, but it really is so different than his normal life.

In comparison, this really is an easier day.]

Hm? No, I wouldn't have guessed. Why would he resent you?

[He smiles quietly to himself, and his spare eyes stare at the cup, gently playing with the rim with spidery fingers.]

After Reira-dono told his brother that he didn't want to fight against a friend he had made in the Synchro Dimension, his brother entrusted the fight to me and I went in his place. However, Reira-dono of now, is nothing like how he was back then. He was very dependent on his brother, and he was worried that he might lose him to me, since Reiji-dono trusted me.

The two of you must miss him, his brother. It's good that he's learned a bit of independence, but the reason is too extreme. [There are likely much better ways than to take him from his home world and deposit him in a place like Ryslig.

Admittedly, that wasn't the reason this happened.]

I have a younger sister of my own, and I do miss her.

I agree... [Too much... The fact that Reiji had been in Ryslig and he had died here too also makes Tsukikage uncomfortable. He had been told Reira was by his bedside when it happened.]
